Wildlife safaris
Wild West offer a selection of wildlife safaris from 4 hours to a full day. Transport is by comfortable minivan with seating for up to 7 passengers. On a Wild West safari not only will we be looking for the iconic species such as Red deer, golden eagles, red squirrels and osprey but you will learn where, when and how to look for all these species, to greatly improve your chances of finding them on your own. You’ll also learn about the history, culture, language and geology as well as the ethnobotany of the region.
Join Wild West to search for Scotland’s Big Five. The Wednesday Big Five safari includes a 2 hour boat trip on Loch Shiel, taking you into the heart of one of the wildest parts of Scotland. The Wee Safari is available daily. On these four hour trips we can expect to see seals and deer and perhaps squirrel and otters.
Throughout October safaris to watch the red deer rut are available twice daily if demand dictates. Photo safaris to photograph the red deer are available throughout the winter and your guide Ian MacLeod is a semi professional photographer who has enormous experience of photographing the UK’s largest land mammal.
Wild West are open all year round and winter offers some of the best wildlife watching opportunities with less cover on trees to hide animals and sunrise/sunset at times that suit humans.
